New Jersey To Welcome Afghan Refugees, Gov. Phil Murphy Says
TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) — Governor Phil Murphy says Afghan refugees are welcome in the backyard State. He sent a letter to President Joe Biden on Sunday.
“These courageous individuals and families — many of whom have worked to aid our military or put their personal lives on the road in support of human rights and American initiatives — must now not be left in the back of,” Murphy wrote.
President Joe Biden stated Sunday that “a number of adjustments” had been made in Kabul to ease the potential of americans and Afghan allies to flee the nation amid emerging threats, and admitted there are discussions about extending the August 31 closing date for US troops to go away Afghanistan.
